The jungle of Machu Picchu

In addition to hiking Machu Picchu mountain and exploring the ruins, we spent a wonderful day hiking through the surrounding jungle to a refreshing waterfall.  It is crazy that only 50 miles away lies the Sacred Valley and Pisac, which are VERY different.  There are no jungles, no humidity.  I am amazed that Hiram Bingham was ever able to find Machu Picchu given the growth in these surrounding jungles, but it does prove that there are likely many other undiscovered ruins all over Peru and Latin America.
