West Coast Baby Shower!

On March 17, some of our great friends, Nandita and Jochem and Erin and John, threw Ava her first official party! The co-ed party was a fantastic night where we were able to catch up with friends, celebrate the upcoming arrival of Ava and enjoy some great food and drinks from our childhood. Nandita and Erin put together a menu of childhood food (think pigs in a blanket, happy meal hamburgers, orange sherbert punch) but kicked them all up a notch to make them hip and cool for our guests. It was such a great party! Little Luke and Oliver even joined the festivities, proving that kids don't hold you back from partying hearty!

You can view the shower photos here.

Thanks to everyone who came! We can't wait to introduce you all to Ava in the very near future.

San Francisco is a great place to say you were born

This past weekend was one of those beautiful weekends that make you love the Bay Area. The sun was shining, the water was sparkling and the temperature was perfect. On Sunday, it felt like we were on vacation when Nandita, Jochem, Dave and I went to Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands. We spent the day lounging in the sun, watching the surfers and talking, followed by a delightful ice cream in Sausalito and an outdoor Mexican dinner in Mill Valley. We could have been somewhere exotic, but no, we were in our own neck if the woods. I do love it here, and I know Ava will love it as well. I am so happy she will be able to call San Francisco her birthplace.

Nandita took some beautiful photos at the beach, including several flattering photos of me pregnant. View the photos from our spectacular day here

Ava will be an Aries!

We found out yesterday that Ava will be making her debut on April 17, 2007 at 10:00 am PDT. She will join several famous Aries family and friends such as Adam Warner (April 2), Carolina Noguera (April 17 - they will share a birthday!) and Emma Wischhusen (April 19). These are three very strong people, so I can only hope that Ava will follow in their footsteps.

According to an Astrology Web site, the traditional traits of an Aries are as follows:
**Adventurous and energetic - she will take after her parents!
**Pioneering and courageous - just like us!
**Enthusiastic and confident - again, Dave and I in a nutshell...
**Dynamic and quick-witted - she will fit right in with the family
**Selfish and quick-tempered - uh-oh, learning how to share might be tough for her....
**Impulsive and impatient - hopefully this doesn't mean she will be a big crier!
**Foolhardy and daredevil - I sense some skydiving in her future...

So, whatever it is you are doing on April 17 - think of us at 10:00 am and send your well-wishes!
